Fuji music star Saheed Osupa has appealed to the federal government to take immediate steps to address the worsening security situation across the country.

The singer made the appeal during a performance at the third edition of the Ogudu Carnival in Lagos, where he passionately called for the release of schoolchildren recently abducted by kidnappers.

“Do whatever you can, they should release this children. Their parent didn’t benefit from the money of this country. Find a way to settle this between yourselves,” he said.

“Leave this children out of it. The government should think of how to rescue them very fast. Government should make decision fast! Do whatever it takes.

“We cannot be calm in pains. The poor people in the country are calm in pain why should it cost their lives? It should not be this way.”

His remarks come amid growing public concern over the country’s security challenges.

The latest outrage followed the reported abduction of students and school personnel in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where a teacher was reportedly killed during the attack.

Osupa joins a number of public figures who have recently spoken out on the issue.

British-Nigerian rapper Skepta also criticised President Bola Tinubu over the hardships facing Nigerians, expressing concern about the country’s situation and urging international attention to what he described as a “deep level of injustice”.

According to the rapper, “the country needs help.”
