Crayon went on a heated rant on X on Sunday evening, publicly criticising the leadership of Mavin Records.
In a series of posts, the 28-year-old songwriter, born Charles Chibueze Chukwu, began his comments with a confusing blend of friendship and hostility while mentioning Mavin founder Don Jazzy and the label’s chief operating officer, Tega Oghenejobo.
Crayon wrote, “Don jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333,” before turning his criticism towards the COO, stating, “Tega highest criminal!!!!!!!!!”
The Lagos-born artiste, who was signed to Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint of Mavin Records, in May 2019, also posted, “Mavin is going down!!!!!!” He then called out the label’s biggest star, Rema, writing, “Rema for the next 100 years no feature. You stole my star from me. Yeah I took tha shiiiiii backkkkk hoeeeeerrrr!!!!! Snakkkkkkkeeeeeesssssssss”.
It remains unclear whether his X account may have been compromised, as the singer has continued posting on Instagram without raising any concerns about a possible hack.
Crayon also hinted at leaving the label by sharing details linked to Olodum Entertainment and promoting a new booking contact: [email protected].
Checks indicate that his newly released track ‘Baami’ is published under the Olodum Entertainment imprint, with no visible branding associated with Mavin Records.
In another post, the singer called for creative designs for the new label, writing: “Any weird creatives that can come with OLODUM ENT FLAGGSSSSS!!!! Gets 500M million naira cash !!!!! With love WARAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!”
As of the time of reporting, Mavin Records and its executives have not issued any response to the outburst.
