Nigerian star Temilade Openiyi, known as Tems, secured her fourth BET Award at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on Monday.

The Grammy-winning artist surpassed top contenders like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music to claim the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for her 2023 song “Me & U” at the 2024 ceremony.

Established in 2001 by Black Entertainment Television, the BET Awards honor and celebrate the achievements of Black entertainers and other underrepresented groups in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.

In 2022, Tems won BET awards for Best International Act and Best Collaboration for Wizkid’s “Essence.”

She also received the Best Collaboration award for her track “Wait for U” with Drake and Future in 2023, which also earned recognition at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Earlier in the evening, South African star Tyla took home awards for Best New Artist and Best International Act.
