Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed that his greatest fear is not knowing the right time to retire from music.

Speaking during a recent video broadcast, the award-winning singer reflected on the pressures of fame and the emotional challenges faced by celebrities whose popularity declines over time.

Davido said that if given the opportunity, he would establish a therapy centre dedicated to supporting people who have experienced fame and success but later struggle with life after the spotlight.

According to him, it can be difficult to go from being at the peak of one’s career to losing public attention.

Drawing a comparison with professional sports, Davido noted that even athletes who achieve extraordinary success continue to face criticism.

He cited Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo as an example, saying that despite his achievements, he was still criticised following Portugal’s exit from the FIFA World Cup.

Davido said the possibility of damaging the legacy he has built over the years is his greatest concern, adding that he constantly prays for the wisdom to recognise the right time to step away from music.

The singer also observed that maintaining success can be just as difficult as attaining it because public expectations remain high regardless of previous accomplishments.

His comments contribute to the growing conversation about the mental health challenges faced by entertainers and professional athletes as they navigate fame, public expectations and life beyond the peak of their careers.
