The Nigerian songwriter Simi has explained the meaning behind the title “Men Are Crazy” for her song.
The song, which was co-written by the songwriter and Tiwa Savage, was released in April. The title of the song caused controversy.
In a recent Way Up with Angela Yee episode, Simi revealed that she knew her single title, “Men Are Crazy,” would spark a lot of interest from the other sex.
The singer stated that when the music became available on streaming services, people would understand her reasoning for the title more clearly, therefore she originally had no intention of disclosing it.
Simi also acknowledged that the online reactions to the title increased anticipation for the song.
“You know it is actually very interesting. When we put out the name for the song, I think it was about a week before the song actually came out,” she said.
“So Tiwa and I posted like pictures from the video and we just posted men are crazy out and the men went crazy. I honestly was not going to go on an explaining spree at the time.
“I was like when the song comes out, they would understand what I am trying to say. Obviously, that also contributed to the PR or the rollout of the song.”
Simi first gained attention in 2014 with her single ‘Tiff’.
Simi secured a contract with the X3M Music label in 2014, but she left the company in May 2019 when her contract expired.
She established the Studio Brat record label in June 2019.
