I haven’t made any major gains in music industry – Wizkid

Superstar singer from Nigeria, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, has stated that his career in music is only getting started because he hasn’t accomplished anything significant in the field.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the “Essence” artist stated as much, adding that he will always be involved in music.

Wizkid, 33, seems to imply that music is a “forever thing” for him and that he might not really retire when the time comes.

Wizkid said:

“The journey is about to begin for Wizkid. I don’t see myself as someone who has achieved something major yet. For me, music is a forever thing.”

The Grammy Award winner is Sub-Saharan Africa’s most streamed artist across all platforms.

He is the second most followed Nigerian musician on social media after Davido.

He is the most awarded African artiste at the American Music Awards, Soul Train Awards, Mobo Awards and Billboard Awards.

Wizkid is also the most awarded artiste in The Headies Award history.

Remember how Aderemi Aluko, also known as Remi Aluko, the maestro of Fuji, discussed the influence of his junior colleague Ayo Balogun, or “Wizkid,” on the Nigerian music scene in a recent video?

As a guest on the EchoRoom podcast in 2013, Aluko—who fought partial blindness—explained how the Nigerian Star Boy revolutionised song recording in the music industry.

The Fuji star revealed that prior to Wizkid’s arrival and his style, songs used to last five minutes.
