Former Big Brother Naija housemate Segun ‘Sheggz’ Olusemo has rejected claims that he depended financially on his ex-girlfriend, Bella Okagbue, during their relationship.
Sheggz addressed the allegations during a recent interview with UK-based Nigerian social media influencer Oyemykke, dismissing reports that he collected money from Bella while they were together.
According to the reality TV star, the claims became widespread after their relationship ended without culminating in marriage. He insisted that he contributed more financially to the relationship and strongly rejected being described as a “gigolo”.
“I’m not a gigolo. Bro, is it possible? I have a job. I make money as I work hard,” he said.
“I have my house in London and I have my house in Banana Island, Lagos. I’ve been balling since way back.”
Sheggz maintained that the public perception of how money was handled in their relationship was inaccurate, while acknowledging that Bella also contributed financially.
“I’m not saying she’s lying. She brought stuff to the table. It’s 70/30. She’s a woman; she works as well. She’s a star too; we’re both stars,” he said.
He further claimed that Bella lived with him and that he covered her expenses during their time together.
“She lived with me; I provided everything for her. As I gave her a car, I did everything for her. I loved her to bits. That was my girl. If we got married, this wouldn’t be a conversation.
“Because we didn’t get married, now everyone is saying crazy stuff.”
Sheggz and Bella met during the 2022 edition of BBNaija and began their relationship while competing on the reality show.
In August, Sheggz disclosed that their four-year relationship ended in January 2026.
Bella later accused Sheggz of displaying a double personality. She also claimed that he made “hundreds of promises” to her, but “none was fulfilled”.
