Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr has denied knowing of the rivalry between her fellow musicians Asake and Seyi Vibez.

There has never been a public altercation between Asake and Seyi Vibez, but there has always been tension between their fan communities, particularly on social media.

Ayra Starr was asked if she deliberately chose to collaborate with both men on her sophomore album, “The Year I Turned 21,” because of their rivalry in a recent interview with The Beat FM Lagos. She denied being aware of the rivalry.

She claims that she chose to collaborate with them because she adores their musical ability.

She said,

“I didn’t put Asake and Seyi Vibez on my album because of their rivalry. I didn’t know about the rivalry between Asake and Seyi Vibez. I just love both of them as artists.

“I’m really big on sonics; what would sound good sonically. My team is always thinking of the business side but I’m just thinking of who would be sonically compatible with me. And I’ve been listening to Seyi Vibez’s ‘Different Pattern’ for a very long time. So I decided to work with him. When I sent the record to him, he sent his verse almost immediately. They were very quick with it. Asake, too, he sent me his verse in three days.”

In a different story, Ayra Starr was pleased with her first meeting with Grammy winner Rihanna.

The 21-year-old crooner of “Sabi” said she was shocked the Barbadian R&B music queen recognised who she was.

Ayra Starr reaffirmed in a recent interview with BuzzFeed that Rihanna is her favourite and most famous person.

As she related the event, she was thrilled to get the opportunity to speak with Rihanna and called it “amazing.”

Ayra said;

“My biggest celeb story is Rihanna. I met Rihanna about two weeks ago. I went to the Authentic Woman event in London. It was amazing; I got to meet Rihanna. Do you know how craazy that is? And she loves me, she knew me that was the most amazing part of it. She knew me. It was so amazing.”
