The Nigerian singer, Spyro, has appealed to fellow music stars Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido to use their platforms to draw attention to the country’s worsening security challenges.

Nigeria has continued to grapple with insecurity in recent years, with bandits, terrorists and kidnappers carrying out attacks across different parts of the country.

One of the latest incidents occurred on May 15 when gunmen stormed Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota, as well as Community Grammar School and LA Primary School in Esiele, Ogbomoso, abducting several pupils, students and staff members.

Since the attack, a number of celebrities, including Spyro, have spoken out and urged the government to secure the release of the victims.

In a video shared on Instagram, Spyro called on influential Nigerians to add their voices to the growing calls for action.

“This video is to beg all well-meaning Nigerians. Our voices are not loud enough. I saw the video of the teachers yesterday, and my heart broke. I wish there was something I could do. If there is anyone who knows what I can do, personally. Please, I am begging every single Nigerian,” he said.

“They are trying to distract us so that we do not speak with one voice because they know that once we are talking about these things, there is pressure on them.

“I am begging you, Wizkid, a tweet would go a long way. I am begging you, Burna Boy, I am begging you, Davido, I am begging every influential person. It can’t just be business as usual. Lend your voice to this cause.

“Let’s speak up. These children can be killed at any moment from now. I have cried, made calls, and I don’t know what else to do other than to call everybody out to speak now.

“I am begging you, Mr President. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we didn’t bargain for these when the whole of Nigeria voted for you. We are pleading with you, something has to be done,” he said.

“Please, everyone, bring out your phone, talk about this. Make a video. If you are going to church tomorrow, please tell your pastors. If you are going to the mosque tomorrow, tell your imams.

“Tell everybody, this is what we should be talking about right now. I am not even saying anything other than begging. Please, please.”
