The Coroner’s inquest into the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad, who was popularly known as Ilerioluwa Aloba, began on Friday, at the Magistrate court in Ikorodu, Lagos. The inquest has scheduled October 13 for witnesses to appear.
As reported by BBC Pidgin, Funmi Falana, along with other lawyers, represented Mohbad’s family in a closed-door session at Candide Johnson’s court. They discussed the arrangements for presenting evidence during the hearing.
After the proceedings, Falana spoke to journalists, stating, ““What we did today was to decide how and when the procedures would help get justice. The date has been fixed and will be bringing our witnesses.”
The lawyer further emphasized that there should be hope, as they are resolute in seeking justice for the late Mohbad.
“We are representing the interest of justice, we should allow peace to reign but justice must be served. We are going to get to the cause of the death,” she added.
Reports have it that Mohbad died on September 12 at the age of 27. He was buried the next day, a development that caused a stir on social media.
