Nigerian artists recorded over 30 billion streams on Spotify in 2025, generating about N60 billion in revenue, according to Spotify’s Loud & Clear annual report. The figures highlight the rising global demand for Nigerian music and the expanding earning potential for artists in the industry.

The report further highlights the depth of listener engagement with Nigerian music on Spotify. In 2025, Nigerian artists amassed 1.6 billion listening hours on the platform alone. They were also discovered by new listeners over 1.3 billion times, representing a 26 percent increase compared to 2024.

In the same year, Nigerian artists accounted for over 80 percent of the songs on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top 50, highlighting the strong influence of local talent on the country’s listening trends.

The data also highlights strong growth across key artist segments. Local streams of Nigerian female artists rose by 55 percent year-on-year, while streams of Nigerian indie artists increased by 75 percent over the same period.

About 58 percent of all royalties earned by Nigerian artists on Spotify in 2025 came from independent artists or labels, underscoring the vital role of independent creators and businesses in the country’s music industry.

In 2025, nearly 2,000 Nigerian artists were featured on Spotify’s editorial playlists, as the platform continued to boost artist discovery and visibility.

Spotify revealed that Nigerian music continued to resonate strongly with listeners worldwide, with Nigerian artists appearing in nearly 320 million user-generated playlists globally and over 12 million within Nigeria. Overall, more than 60 million playlists featuring Nigerian artists were created on the platform in 2025.
