Afrobeats artist Tiwa Savage recently discussed her feelings about the criticism she receives for her style choices due to her age.

During a recent podcast appearance, Savage voiced her displeasure with the ongoing criticism she encounters because of her age.

The 44-year-old singer said she frequently receives criticism for her wardrobe choices, with some people arguing that she ought to wear more modestly given her advanced age.

Tiwa Savage, on the other hand, noted that Beyoncé and other female celebrities in their 40s are frequently praised for their beauty and sense of style, despite their advanced age.

She emphasized that she believes age should not dictate one’s fashion choices, urging individuals to be free to express themselves through their clothing, regardless of their age.

Tiwa Savage also expressed her confidence in her own beauty and fashion sense, stating that she is proud to be a powerful and beautiful woman.

She said:

“They age-shame me every single day. They say, a woman of you age, how can you be wearing a bikini? I can because I have a body.

“Beyoncé is in her 40s and wears bikinis but Americans don’t age shame her. They would be like, for her age, black don’t crack. It’s more celebrated when you look good in your older age.

“But they [Nigerians], always throw these things like, when her son grows up, he’s going to see this. My son is going to be like, my mum is a powerful and beautiful woman.”
