Nollywood veteran, Ethel Ekpe is dead

The late actress, who played “Segi” in Ken Saro Wiwa‘s former sitcom “Basi and Company” on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), passed away in Lagos State.

The actress apparently passed away on Wednesday from cancer, according to a Facebook post by Shaibu Husseini, the Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board.

Husseini declared, “It has come to my knowledge that Ethel Ekpe, (Ethel Aderemi nee Ekpe), the stunning actress who mesmerised audiences with her unique portrayal of Segi in the long-gone sitcom “Basi and Company” on Nigerian Television Authority, has departed from this life.

“The actress, pastor and star of Amaka Igwe’s ‘Forever’ and most recently ‘Sons of the Caliphate” reportedly died of cancer today in Lagos. She will be sorely missed.
