The eldest son of Afrobeat pioneer and Nigerian musician, Femi Anikulapo Kuti has canceled his European winter tour again “due to current travels restrictions, venue limitations and cancellations.”
The 59-year-old singer made this announcement in a statement issued on his social media page on Thursday.
This is coming weeks after the singer alongside his son, Made Kuti arrived in France to resume the European winter tour after the coronavirus (COVID-19) break.
Citing reasons for the cancellation for the second time, Femi said the travel restrictions which is caused by Omicron, a new variant of COVID-19.
“Due to current travels restrictions and venue limitations and cancellations, we regretfully have to cancel the remainder of our European winter tour 2021,” he wrote.
“Our thoughts go out to the victims of this pandemic, and we are grateful to the venues that have done everything possible to welcome us but have Been forced to close.
“To our dear fans and friends, who have anticipated our shows, most of these gigs are going to be postponed to a later date and purchased tickets should remain valid.
“Of course we and the organizers will keep you informed of all this. Thank you for your love, remain strong. Femi Kuti and the positive force band,” he concluded.
Femi had earlier announced that the winter tour would kick off in France on November 18 at the AFRICOLOUR festival.
The music icon will also be performing in Switzerland, Germany, and Belgium.
