Grammy-nominated singer Davido has said taking up a government role would not prevent him from continuing his music career.
Speaking during a livestream with Davrel, Davido explained that he could still remain active musically even while serving in government.
He pointed to former Haitian President Michel Martelly as an example, noting that Martelly kept performing and touring during his time in office.
“I would still be performing if I ever chose to work for the government. That doesn’t stop anything, in my opinion.
“It won’t be as much as it was before, of course. Even while president of Haiti, Michel Martelly continued to perform as a musician. He even went on tours while serving as president,” he said.
Davido also made it clear that he is no longer interested in going into politics. After watching other Nigerian celebrities venture into the political space, he believes many have struggled to succeed, and current realities have made him rethink his earlier ambition.
