Priscilla Ojo has responded to rumours suggesting that the store owned by her Tanzanian husband, Juma Jux, was burnt down during the recent protests in Tanzania.

The unrest broke out on Thursday as citizens took to the streets to protest alleged irregularities in the presidential election held the previous day.

Tensions escalated following the exclusion of President Samia Hassan’s two main challengers from the race — a move widely criticised by citizens and rights groups, who have accused Hassan’s government of cracking down on opposition voices, activists, and journalists.

Amid the chaos, a claim posted by an X user, Bolaji Fesomade, went viral online.

Fesomade alleged that a store belonging to Jux, “valued at a staggering $780 million,” had been completely destroyed by fire during the protests.

“Reports from Tanzania say singer Juma Jux’s store, worth over $780 million has been set ablaze and completely destroyed by protesters. The violence erupted after yesterday’s tense presidential election which sparked chaos and unrest across several parts of the country,” he wrote.

However, Priscilla took to her Snapchat account to debunk the report. She confirmed that while the store was indeed affected, it was not burnt, clarifying with the post: “Looted ✅ Burnt ❎.”

Priscilla did not specify the extent of the damage or disclose the value of the items stolen. As of now, Jux has not released an official statement regarding the incident.

The couple, who made their relationship public in July 2024 through affectionate social media posts, later tied the knot in 2025 with ceremonies held in Lagos and Dar es Salaam. They welcomed their first child in August 2025.
