Revealed: Mohbad submitted petition of threats to life against Sam Larry, others to police weeks before his death
After the passing of Nigerian rapper Mohbad, new information indicates that he had informed the Nigerian police about threats to his life prior to the tragic event.
The 27 year old singer filed a petition with the Nigerian police alleging assault by Sam Larry Elegushi before his death.
In a petition dated June 2nd, two days after the alleged assault, Mohbad alleged that 15 men armed with guns and machetes disrupted his music video shoot.
In his petition, Mohbad urged the Nigerian police to bring the perpetrators to justice. However, there has been no update on his case since he filed the petition.
A copy of the letter was shared on the social media platform ”X” (formerly Twitter), and the current spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, was tagged in the post.
However in response to the ongoing concerns about whether the police were negligent in their handling of the late singer’s petition, SP Benjamin Hundeyin responded to the circulating copy of the letter, saying;
“The @LagosPoliceNG is headed by a Commissioner of Police. This petition was taken to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Lagos office, headed by a superior officer, an Assistant Inspector-General of Police.”

Mohbad’s death on September 12, 2023, has been attributed to various causes, including accusations against his fellow singers. However, recent reports suggest that his death may have been due to police negligence in handling his complaint.
The Nigerian police responded to social media revelations about the late singer’s death and his alleged petition about threats to his life.
