Actress Bamike Olawunmi, better known by her stage name Bambam, was a competitor on Big Brother Naija in the past. She shares her experiences in the Nollywood industry and sheds light on the common problem of “sex for roles.”
Producers use it, she said, to take advantage of young, gullible actresses, often betraying their pledges to cast them in important roles after having an affair.
She disclosed that she has been approached by multiple producers who have offered her gigs in exchange for sexual favours in the most recent episode of the Secrets Behind the Scenes podcast.
Bambam recounted how she was cast in a movie, and after that a producer gave her the keys to his hotel room.
She emphasized that “sex for roles” is not worth it and warned budding actresses to avoid falling for it.
She said:
“Sex for roles is a scam. It’s not worth it. Some of them [victims] what they are paying them at the end of that production is not more than N50,000, N100,000. Don’t be deceived o! It’s a lie. It [sex for role] is a scam.
“The one that I did waka pass that dem give me N5,000 and the guy [filmmaker] was giving me his hotel room key to hold. Ah! I don’t want to mention names.”
