The stand-up comedian, Seyi Law, has criticised Isaac Fayose, the brother of the former Ekiti governor, for calling for the immediate resignation or impeachment of President Bola Tinubu over economic hardship.
In a now-viral video, Fayose argued that the reduction in traffic across Lagos is a result of worsening economic conditions, claiming that many Nigerians can no longer afford fuel.
“Even Lagos state roads that are always busy are now empty, pøverty has made everyone park their cars. President Tinubu should resign now, Nigerians are sûffering,” he said.
“Senate President Akpabio should impeach Tinubu now and save Nigeria. The judiciary is gone, INEC is gone, there is no hope.”
Responding via his X account, Law dismissed the claims, offering a different perspective on the situation.
He argued that the reduction in traffic is linked to recent infrastructure developments and improved transport systems, rather than economic hardship.
“Anybody whose brain is functioning knows that since the blue and red metro lines started working and many roads were repaired and constructed for example the Lekki-Epe Expressway and coastal highway has caused traffic to reduce on the roads,” he wrote.
Law, who supported Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, has previously faced criticism over his comments on national issues, including his claim that the country “is currently safer under the Tinubu administration than it was a decade ago”.
He later apologised for the remark, describing it as a mistake, while reaffirming his support for the president, stating he is “willing to stake everything on him”.
