Singer Ayra Starr releases artwork, track list for Sophomore album

Nigerian music sensation Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, known professionally as Ayra Starr, has unveiled the artwork and tracklist for her eagerly awaited second album, ‘The Year I Turned 21’.

The Grammy-nominated artist took to social media to surprise her fans with the details of her new album, featuring a striking pose next to a vintage car on a highway, which she described as making her look “like a bag of money.”

“‘The Year I Turned 21’, also known as ‘TYIT21’, is now available for pre-order and is set to officially release on May 31, 2024,” she announced.

The anticipation for her album is high, with notable endorsements from other celebrities, including Nigerian music icon Wizkid, who shared her post and added his support.

The album boasts collaborations with international stars including Nigeria’s Asake and Seyi Vibes, America’s Giveon and Coco Jones, and Brazil’s Anitta, among others.

Starr, who initially began her career in fashion at 16 with Quove Model Management, shifted her focus to music, gaining attention after covering popular songs on Instagram.

debuted her first original song on the platform in December 2019, catching the eye of music mogul Don Jazzy, who signed her to his Marvin Record label.

She gained international acclaim in 2022 with the release of her hit song “Rush”, which charted across multiple countries and earned her a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards.

The track also set records on YouTube, making Starr the youngest African female artist to exceed 100 million views on a single video and achieving this milestone within five months.
