Timaya urges Napoli to show Osimhen more respect

Nigerian singer Timaya on Wednesday called on Napoli to show more respect to their Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen after the club’s TikTok handler disrespected him.

Napoli’s TikTok admins trolled their Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen on Tuesday for his penalty miss in their 0-0 draw with Bologna in Serie A last weekend.

Osimhen missed the crucial spot kick in the 72nd minute, which could have ended his three-game goal drought and the club’s two-game winless streak.

The 24-year-old striker’s rude reaction to being substituted by coach Rudi Garcia in the 86th minute generated significant media scrutiny in Italy, forcing him to apologize for his behavior.

On social media, the club posted a video mocking Osimhen’s penalty appeal, with a voiceover repeatedly saying: “Give me a penalty, please!”

The video sparked angry reactions from users around the world, with many Nigerians arguing that the Serie A champions do not deserve last season’s top scorer.

Timaya on Wednesday, also took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his anger at Napoli for the actions of their TikTok admin.

“Napoli and the world should put some respect on Osimhen’s name. They have not had a player like that since Maradona,” the musician posted.

In response to the video, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has threatened to take legal action against Napoli.
