Notable Nigerian content creator, Mr Macaroni, has revealed why he declined an invitation from Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2020 #EndSARS protest.
The skit maker spoke about the decision in a recent interview with iFinedie, where he was asked why he did not honour the invitation to the government house.
In his response, Mr Macaroni stressed that the governor is accountable to citizens and should take responsibility for actions carried out under his administration.
“He’s the chief office security officer of the state and if he’s aware that a citizen of a state was tortured, he has no business calling me privately”, He firmly stated.
Speaking further, Mr Macaroni said the governor ought to issue a public apology, noting that such a move could open the door for dialogue.
ENDSARS Protest In 2020
Mr Macaroni was a prominent figure during the #EndSARS protests in Nigeria.
He led an all-night protest at the Lagos State Government House in Alausa on October 8, 2020, demanding that the governor or his deputy address concerns over police brutality and FSARS.
During the protest, he and other demonstrators reportedly faced resistance, including the alleged confiscation of their tent.
Despite the challenges, they remained steadfast and continued to push for change.
