Why I rejected the tag ‘Liz Benson of Enugu’ – Patience Ozokwor

The renowned Nigerian actress Patience Ozokwor has explained why she turned down tags given to her at the beginning of her career.

The 65-year-old claimed in an interview with Nwafo TV that when she first started her career, people started comparing her to another talented actress, Liz Benson.

She claimed that they called her “Liz Benson of Enugu,” a moniker that she swiftly rejected.

Ozokwo stated that she preferred to create her own identity and did not want to be compared to anyone else because she thinks they are both special.

“I don’t know how it started, but all I knew was that when I started and people started recognising this woman from Enugu. So there was a time I came to Lagos for a shoot and I came to where we normally gather in Lagos and they started saying hey, that’s the Enugu woman, the Liz Benson of Enugu,” she said.

“So they came and said you are Liz Benson of Enugu. And I was like no, with all due respect to Liz Benson, I do not want to be like her. I want to be myself. I am Patience Ozokwo of Enugu.”

In a different story, Patience Ozokwor has responded to reports that she experienced spiritual deliverance.

On Friday, Ozokwor called the “deliverance story” “fake news” in an Instagram post.

The 65-year-old actress, who is affectionately known as Mama G, issued a warning, threatening legal action against those who propagate the false information.

“Don’t say I said, saw, or did what never happened. Don’t carry fake news just to get views,” she wrote.

“Have a conscience. Life is too short, live it well. Disclaimer!!! I have nothing to do with any deliverance story going around social media.

“Those responsible will face prosecution. If you don’t see it on my verified platforms or hear it from me, then it is probably a lie.”
