Nigerian director and movie actor, Funke Akindele, has addressed the issue of sustaining friendships in the make-believe industry.
In an interview with Arise TV, the mother of two and box office queen discussed her relationships with coworkers like Eniola Badmus and others.
In response to a question on how she has balanced friendship and relationships with her rising notoriety, Funke Akindele revealed that she has never had true friends outside of her brothers.
She continued by saying that, in contrast to common opinion, she enjoys spending time indoors with her family and children, watching films, and having fun.
In Funke Akindele’s words:
“Friendship? I think my siblings are my friends. They are my friends. I have acquaintances, people that I’m cordial with, but not serious friendships like that. Because I’m always busy working. And when I’m not working, I’m sleeping, chilling with the kids, watching a movie, chilling with the family.
I like being in my space. I don’t really like going to parties, I’m not a party animal. I don’t like it at all. I run a studio, we film every year – we have content on Youtube, movies at cinemas and on streaming platforms. I’m very busy. So I just get busy with work and my children, because I need to give them time. So when I’m not working, I’m with my children. I’m in my space.
In the industry, I have cordial relationships with people in the industry. I love working with some particular people. I work with all my colleagues, but there are some that are so dear to my heart. I have a team, my crew members. And for my colleagues, I have cordial relationship with everybody.”
When asked about Eniola Badmus specifically who she used to be very close with, Funke Akindele gave an update on their relationship saying:
“Eniola Badmus makes me laugh. She cracks me up so much. I love to chill with her. But, we’ve been so busy with life. Everybody is doing their thing. But I’m still cordial with her, and everybody.”
