The Nigerian actor Feranmi Oyalowo has opened up about his feelings about marriage and the reasons he isn’t prepared to get married.
The Yoruba actor stressed the value of establishing a solid relationship foundation before to marriage in an interview on Oyinmomo TV.
Oyalowo, who is presently dating, clarified that he is unsure if he and his partner will eventually tie the knot.
According to the actor, a strong friendship should be the foundation of any successful partnership rather than a hasty marriage.
“I have someone that we are together. But we are hoping it ends in a good place. We do not know where it will end yet. Whoever wants to marry a theatre practitioner or an entertainer, let us first remove issues related to marriage,” he said.
“If you know you want to marry this particular person, is he or she my friend? If you eventually get married. And when you get married, every other shortcoming will be under the friendship umbrella. You will argue, fight, and shout at each other but it will end in jokes because you have a mutual understanding. But if it were to be that you just get married based on love at first sight, it eventually turns out to be violent because they do not have a full understanding of each other.
“I prefer it to be that I am first friends with anyone I am getting married to. From there we would proceed to ask questions about marriage.
“Many marriages are limited. There are some things some wives cannot do in the presence of their husbands. I feel that at this stage I am. Let me first have a friend who knows everything about me.”
