Why we arrested Bobrisky – EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently announced the arrest of popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.

It was announced a few hours ago that the infamous transvestite had been taken into custody. Online sources claim that on April 3, 2024, at around 3 p.m., the transvestite was taken into custody at Pinnock Estate in Lagos claim.

The reason behind Bobrisky’s detention was exclusively disclosed to LIB by Mr. Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, who confirmed Bobrisky’s apprehension.

Dele Oyewale stated that the crossdresser was arrested for currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira.

He added that the internet sensation is in their facility in Lagos and would be charged to court soon. In Dele Oyewale’s words:

“He is with us. We arrested him over currency mutilation and abuse of Naira. He is in our facility in Lagos State.”

This occurs just two days after Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police spokesperson, disclosed the reasons why cross-dressers like James Brown and Bobrisky are not arrestable.

He described the position as extremely precarious, noting that although being queer is illegal in Nigeria, cross-dressing is not.

He stated that even while there are rumours that those who cross-dress are also members of the LGBTQ community, they cannot bring those claims to court since there is insufficient proof to support them, and even if they are, one will lose.
