Bauchi Govt. donates N19 million to market fire victims

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has donated over N19 million to traders affected by fire at Muda Lawal market located in the state capital.‎

Alhaji Bala MaiKaji, the Chairman, Traders and Artisans Association of the market, told newsmen on Sunday in Bauchi that the donation was given as succour to the affected victims.

MaiKaji said that over N50 million worth of properties were lost in the inferno which occurred twice in the last two years. The disaster had crippled business activities in the market.
He commended Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar for sympathising with the victims and pledged their support and prayers to his administration.
Speaking, one of the beneficiaries Mr Chizoba Umendu said that he lost properties worth over N5 million and that he received N3 million to resuscitate his business.
He expressed his appreciation for the gesture and called on the Igbo community residing in the state to live in peace with the rest of the people.
Another beneficiary, Alhaji Shagari Usman said that he lost properties worth over N10 million in the inferno and was given N4 million .
He therefore commended Governor Abubakar for the assistance and pledged to contribute positively towards the economic development of the state.
