There was pandemonium on Wednesday morning at Senate Chamber during plenary as hoodlums stormed the chamber and seized the mace.
According to the source, who witnessed the incident said it was an usual scene at the floor of Nigeria’s Upper Legislative chamber.
“Proceedings was disrupted as sitting commenced with dozens of thugs walked into the chambers in the company of one of the senator, representing Delta central, Ovie Omo-agege recently suspended by Senate”.
The mace is the symbol of authority in the National Assembly without which no decision can be reached on the floor of the legislature.
In the meantime, security personnel have been deployed around the National Assembly complex to forestall breakdown of law and order.
This is not the not first time such incident would happen the National Assembly, it once happened during the Obasanjo administration when the mace was allegedly taken to Okija shrine.
