Buhari deserves credible person as APC chair – Song
A foremost labour leader, Comrade Adamu Song, who is the General Secretary of NUPENG, has implored the APC to guard against someone with doubtful character as its new national chairman.
Song said since President Muhammadu Buhari had acclaimed integrity, he should resist being matched with someone whose integrity records were questionable.
Song, a former National Chairman of Alliance for Democracy (ADC), spoke on Wednesday in Calabar during the formal declaration of the former Governor of Cross River State, Dr. Clement David Ebri, to contest for the office of National Chairman of the APC on June 23.
“Since President Buhari has unquestionable integrity, a virtue which won him the presidential election in 2015, APC shouldn’t make the mistake of mismatching him with somebody without same degree of integrity as the party’s national chairman. APC needs someone like Ebri who has been tested,” he said.
In his declaration, Ebri said he decided to run for the office after deep and wide consultation. “I came away with the conviction that the fate of our great country is inextricably tied to the fate of our party.”
