Buratai seeks support for returnee IDPs

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai on Sunday appealed to humanitarian agencies in the Northeast to assist Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) that have returned to their communities.

Buratai, who was represented by the Chief of Training and Operations (Army) Major General David Ahmadu assured all the returnee IDps of adequate security as they settle down in the communities.

A statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig. Gen. Texas Chukwu said Major General Ahmadu made the appeal at Gudunbali in company of the Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole Major General Rogers Nicholas.

He said they physically conducted the symbolic traditional house sweeping and farm clearing, as part of the Civil – Military aspect of Operation Last Hold and to practically demonstrate the humanitarian posture of the operation.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff has flagged off Operation Last Hold in Monguno, Borno State to officially mark the commencement of the operation.

Buratai also commissioned the office complex of the Headquarters Operation Last Hold at the Kinasara Barracks Monguno, where he presented the operation flag to the Commander, Major General Abbas Dikko.
