Eid-el-Fitr: Muslims urged to pray against COVID-19

A member representing Awe North Constituency at Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Tanko-Tunga, has urged his constituents to offer special prayers to end COVID-19 pandemic before the end of Ramadan.

He made the appeal while distributing food items to his constituents to enable them to enjoy Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Awe on Monday.

Tanko- Tunga, the Majority Leader of the Assembly, who was represented by Yusuf Abdullahi, also said the gesture was to cushion the lives of his constituents during the current lockdown.

The items distributed to various communities included 100 bags of 25kg of rice, 100 bags of 50kg of beans, 100 bags of 50kg of maize, 100 packs of salt and 100 cartons of Maggi.

“I want to call on the beneficiaries to use these items to better their lots and that of their family members.

“I also solicit your support to enable me to succeed in the task ahead.

“I urge you all to support the state government policies and programmes to enjoy more dividends of democracy,’’ he said.

The lawmaker also assured the people of effective and quality representation in the legislature to make laws that would have positive impact on them.

Tanko-Tunga also urged Muslims and other Nigerians to use the period of Ramadan to intensify prayers for God’s intervention against Coronavirus in the country.

Besides, he called on Nigerians to adhere strictly to government directive and health experts advice to curtail further spread of the virus in the country.

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke during the distribution appreciated the lawmaker for the gesture and pledged their support to enable him to succeed.
