Ganduje, Kwankwaso supporters clash in Kano
Many supporters of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State and his predecessor, Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso were reportedly injured in Kano, yesterday, following a clash between the two political groups.
It was gathered that the incident occurred around 11am at Chiranchi quarters in Gwale Local Government Area of the state.
An eyewitness, who does not want to be named, said that trouble started when Kwankwasiyya and Gandujiyya members converged on Chiranchi quarters for two separate wedding events.
“The Kwankwasiyya followers attended one of the wedding Fatihas and their counterpart from Gandujiyya attended the other. The one attended by members of Kwankwasiyya was contracted first. So, while they were leaving the area, they ran into a crowd where Gandujiyya people were contracting another marriage.
“Before you know it, fight ensued between members of the two groups. Walid Abbas, a younger brother of the Commissioner of Special Duties, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas and member of Kwankwasiyya group were among the people that were injured.
“Walid sustained deep cut in his head and three other members of Kwankwasiyya also sustained various degrees of injuries during the clash,” he said.
Another witness, Ibrahim Sanusi, said the Kwankwasiyya people had also injured a popular member of Gandujiyya group known as Kingmaker.
“The Kwankwasiyya people after the first clash returned to the area with dangerous weapons and attacked several members of Gandujiyya group,” he said.
When contacted, Police Spokesman in the state, DSP Magaji Musa Majia confirmed the incident but said there were no details yet.
“I don’t have details of the clash. I will communicate with you as soon as I get details of the unfortunate incident,” he said.
It would be recalled that members of the two groups had a bloody clash last year during the famous Hawan Daushe, held at emir’s palace.
