The Kwara House of Assembly on Tuesday granted the request of Gov. AbdulFatah Ahmed to access a N150 million loan from a first generation bank to improve facilities at the state-owned Aviation College.

The house granted the request sequel to a message sent to the house by the governor which was read during the plenary by the Speaker, Dr Ali Ahmad.

The governor had said the application for the loan was premised on the approval of the State Executive Council as well as the assembly’s resolution for the facility to be obtained

The Speaker, after reading the letter, said that the request was urgent and as such directed the House Leader, Hassan Oyeleke, to move the motion for the request to be debated.

Majority of the lawmakers said the loan would solve the financial problems of the college.

The lawmakers also acknowledged that many relevant agencies, which were ready to partner the college, could not do so due to its financial challenge.

Hon. Saheed Popoola (APC-Ojumu/Balogun) commended the initiator of the college, Dr Bukola Saraki, saying graduates of the college were performing well.

Ahmad, who spoke after the contributions of members, urged politicians to sponsor students in their constituencies to the college instead of distributing tricycles and motorcycles to them.
