Following heightened fears and possible attack on non-indigenes in Lagos, All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and a chieftain of National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly called MC Oluomo, yesterday, met with the leadership of Igbo at different fora to assure them of safety in the state.
Sanwo-Olu, in company of his running-mate, Dr. Femi Hamzat, led a delegation to Computer Village, Ikeja, which is highly dominated by Igbo traders, and reassured them of safety, due to the ugly incident that occurred last Saturday at Ago Palace Way.
He also promised to protect their interest if elected into office on March 9, 2019, governorship poll.
Sanwo-Olu, who used the opportunity to canvass for their (Igbo) votes and support, also reassured them of running an inclusive administration, if elected.
Prince Nwankeze, leader of Ndigbo Computer Village traders, while responding, promised to ensure Ndigbo voted for Sanwo-Olu and other APC candidates.
“We also urge you to fulfill your promise to us and protect our interest in the state,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, MC Oluomo also convened a peace meeting between Yoruba and Ndigbo at Oshodi where a peace accord was said to have been endorsed by the two ethnic groups, who were said to have been living in harmony and friendship for ages.
It was gathered that MC Oluomo used the opportunity to dissociate his members’ involvement from the alleged attack and threat to Igbo living in Lagos.
