NiMet predicts cloudy skies, rains, thunderstorms for Wednesday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted prospects of thunderstorms and rains over the Central States of the country such as Kaduna, Abuja, Lafia, Minna and Mambilla Plateau on Wednesday morning.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Tuesday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 25 to 30 and 17 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

It added that there were chances of rains over Abuja, Jos, Lafia and Minna axis during the afternoon and evening hours.

The agency predicted southern states would experience cloudy skies over the southeast inland with prospects of rains over Abakiliki, Umuahia and Ikom, adding that most parts of the coast would experience rains during the morning hours.

It also predicted prospects of thunderstorms and rains over the inland cities and rains over the coast during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 28 to 30 and 21 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern States will experience localised thunderstorms over some parts of this region such as Sokoto, Gusau, Yelwa, Katsina, Dutse, Niger, Potiskum, and Maiduguri during the morning hours.

“However, there are chances of more thunderstorms over the region during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 29 to 30 and 19 to 22 degrees Celsius respectively.

“Thunderstorms are expected over the northern and central cities with chances of light to moderate rains over the southern part of the country within the next 24 hours” NiMet predicts.
