NiMet predicts thunderstorms, rains for Friday
The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted the presence of a deep weather system that would aid rainfall across the country for Friday.
NiMet made this known in its Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Thursday.
It predicted morning thunderstorm over Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Bauchi and parts of Borno, Gombe and Yobe.
The agency predicted late evening thunderstorms over Bauchi, Adamwa and Gombe axis in the evening period.
It stated that day and night temperature in the northern region would be in the ranges of 29 – 34 degree Celsius and 21 – 25 degree Celsius respectively.
NiMet predicted thunderstorms that would affect parts of Plateau, Kaduna, Nassarawa, Abuja, Adamawa, Benue and Niger states in the morning hours.
It stated that storm would linger over the central states and extend to affect the rest of the areas including Kwara and Kogi states.
The agency also stated that day and night temperature in the central region would be in the range of 23 – 31 degree celsius and 15 – 24 degree celsius respectively.
NiMet predicted morning rains over the southeast and its coastal cities, while the south west would be mostly cloudy.
According to it, afternoon holds promise for wide spread rain to affect both the south western and south eastern states including their coastal areas.
It envisaged that day and night temperature in the southern states would be in the range of 28- 32 degree celsius and 22 – 23 degree celsius respectively.
