Ogun Govt. trains 103 extension officers to boost agric

The Ogun government, on Saturday, organised induction training for the 103 agricultural extension officers newly-engaged by the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the training was organised by the Ogun Agricultural Development Programme (OGADEP) at the Baptist Girls’ Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta,

The Programme Manager of OGADEP, Mrs Taiwo Ayansanwo, noted that the training had become necessary to enable the trainees appreciate their responsibilities as agricultural extension officers in the state civil service.

She said that the officers needed to know their roles as extension officers who would work closely with farmers on the field.

Ayansanwo explained that the exercise would be moved to every zone in the state to train people on the technicalities of agricultural extension service.

The Director, Value Chain Development Programme, OGADEP, Mr Samuel Adeogun, stated that the training would facilitate better understanding of the roles and functions of the extension officers and promote agriculture in the state.
