Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has donated the sum of N3.6 million to the police officers who exhibited outstanding performance in the cause of their duty in Jigawa State.

13 valiant police officers, including those who lost their lives as a result of gun shots or accidents while on duty  received the reward for selfless commitment.

Speaking while presenting the checks to the beneficiaries, the IG, represented by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Bala Zama Senchi, said the gesture was aimed at boosting the moral of other serving officers to discharge their duties diligently.

He said the police commission has always accorded priority to safety and welfare of its officers as well as supporting them and their children to have a good life. “I am today presenting these checks (donation) to families of 7 officers of this command who gallantly lost their lives on duty, not as compensation but it is in recognition of their sacrifice, also to another 5 who survived the wounds and are still with police command.” He said.

Five other officers, who demonstrated professionalism while on their duty post, were given commendation letters for excellent performance.

CP Zama stressed that, the IG donation to the gallant officers is an evidence of high level of concern that the police authority has on its personnel while alive and after death. He then reiterated the commitment of the police authority to take care of the entitlements and welfare of its men, and also urge the officers to uphold the concept of professionalism and nationalism while discharging their duties at all time.
