Teachers are character moulders, says Mujota

The Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Modupe Mujota has described teachers as life shapers, destiny moulders and nation builders, who were expected to strike a balance between mental, social, emotional, spiritual and physical well-being of their pupils.

Speaking at the 2018 Delegate Conference of the Association of Primary School Head Teachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Ogun State Chapter, held at NUT Hall, Kuto, Abeokuta, Mujota said, children are the future of the nation; therefore, teachers should adequately prepare them for the challenges ahead.

While urging those in the teaching profession to redouble their efforts at ensuring that they produce children who would be drivers of the nation’s economy in years to come, the Commissioner promised that education and teachers’ welfare in particular, would continue to receive government prompt attention.

Speaking, the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Abdul Jeleel Okewole commended teachers in the State primary Schools for their resilience, perseverance and diligence despite daunting challenges facing them, pledging government’s commitment to their well-being.

In his welcome address, the State Chairman, AOPSHON, Comrade Francis Olubayo said the Association, as stakeholders in the education sector, was ready to brace up and deal with the challenges of poor reading culture and laziness among primary school pupils.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the conferment of ‘’Pillar of Education’’ award on the Education Commissioner and Ogun SUBEB Chairman.
