Former education minister and convener of the BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, Oby Ezekwesili among other members of the BBOG group were on Tuesday detained by the FCT Police Command.

“I have been ARRESTED along with rest of our BBOG members and NOW DETAINED without a charge by the @PoliceNG . WE are detained at the FCT command . The Police here has REFUSED to tell us why we are DETAINED.

“The FG of President .@MBuhari instructed the IG of @PoliceNG to DETAIN ME AND OTHER MEMBERS of @BBOG_Nigeria here at the Unity Fountain. Police men and women have BUILT AN IMPREGNABLE WALL and LOCKED ME IN. I have asked them more than 30 times to LET ME OUT and they REFUSED.” Ezekwesili wrote on her official Twitter account.

In the early days of the current administration, BBOG found favour with the government as it was given clearance to meet with the president inside the council chamber of the presidential villa.

The government of former President Goodluck Jonathan had blocked members of the group from Aso Rock.

However, as time progressed the movement fell out with the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
