The eye is a very delicate organ and can be easily damaged by injury or disease. Some common eye problems include nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and cataracts. Nearsightedness is a condition in which objects that are far away appear blurry. Farsightedness is a condition in which objects that are close up appear blurry. Astigmatism is a condition in which the cornea is not perfectly round, which can cause blurry vision at all distances. Cataracts are a clouding of the lens that can interfere with vision.

Many things can be done to protect your eyes which are;

Get regular eye exams: This is the best way to detect any eye problems early on when they are most easily treated.

Wear sunglasses: Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays. UV rays can damage the cornea, lens, and retina, leading to cataracts, macular degeneration, and other eye problems.

Quit smoking: Smoking is a major risk factor for cataracts, macular degeneration, and other eye problems.

Eat a healthy diet: Eating plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help to protect your eyes from age-related eye problems.

Control your blood pressure: High blood pressure can damage blood vessels in the eye, leading to glaucoma.

Manage your diabetes: Diabetes can damage blood vessels in the eye, leading to diabetic retinopathy.

Avoid rubbing your eyes: Rubbing your eyes can irritate the cornea and lead to infection.

Get enough sleep: When you’re well-rested, your eyes are better able to focus and function properly.

Take breaks from screens: If you work on a computer or use other digital devices for long periods, take breaks every 20-30 minutes to look away from the screen and focus on something else for a few minutes.

Wear protective: Wear protective eyewear when working with chemicals or doing activities that could put your eyes at risk.
