A recent assault on Thursday, believed to be carried out by suspected bandits, resulted in the death of 10 individuals and left numerous others injured in Kukar Babangida village, located in the Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The casualties included the Village Head of Kukar Babangida, Zauren Katsina, and his four biological children.

According to residents who spoke to Channels Television over the phone, the bandits attacked the village around 1:30 am on Thursday, catching most of the residents unaware as they were sound asleep.

The village is home to approximately 6,000 people, predominantly consisting of farmers and herders.

Kukar Babangida has consistently faced the challenges posed by bandit activities since the onset of banditry in the state.

“Even within the week, two bandits attacks were recorded in the Jibia Local Government Council. One of the attacks was launched along the Jibia-Batsari axis and the other attack was carried out in the heart of Jibia town itself and with each of these attacks, lives were lost,” a resident said.

As of the time this report was filed, there had been no response from the Katsina State Police Command regarding the attack. Numerous attempts to contact the Command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, via phone calls remained unanswered.
