2023: Obi not in alliance with Atiku – Campaign organisation

The Obi-Datti Campaign Organization has said that Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate for the Labour Party, and Atiku Abubakar, the nominee for the People’s Democratic Party, are not in discussions about forming an alliance.

According to earlier reports, Atiku mentioned that after meeting with Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the candidate for the New Nigerian People Party, to support his candidacy in the upcoming election, Atiku hinted at his willingness to cooperate with them.

In a 15-minute interview with the BBC Hausa station on Tuesday, Atiku made this clear.

Speaking to the interviewer in Hausa, Atiku claimed that and that he would be willing to work both candidates in the upcoming election.

“Although, I see no threat in any of them but we are in talks, and the discussion might yield a positive result that will see one of them coming.”

However, the spokesman for the Obi-Datti campaign organization, Yunusa Tanko, responded to the assertion on Wednesday, saying people making the alliance claim are only attempting to capitalize on Obi’s popularity.

“As of yesterday, before we left Numan, there was nothing of such nature. We are busy with campaigns. We are not aware of anything like an alliance.

“I think somebody is just trying to cash out on the Obi-Datti ticket. We are right now campaigning in Sokoto and we will be in Zamfara.”
