The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has unveiled a 156-member campaign council ahead of the 2027 general elections, assigning major roles to former governors and other prominent party figures.

Governor Dapo Abiodun will head the campaign council as Chairman, according to the structure released by the state chapter of the party on Tuesday.

The party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, will serve as Co-Chairman, while former Ogun East Senator, Lekan Mustapha, has been appointed Director-General.

Former governor and APC national leader, Olusegun Osoba, was listed as Grand Patron, while two other former governors, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, were named Deputy Grand Patrons.

The campaign leadership also includes Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele and the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, as Deputy Chairmen.

APC state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, was appointed Vice Chairman, with Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, and Minister of State for Health, Kunle Salako, taking charge as Vice Director-General, Campaign Operations, and Vice Director-General, Administration, respectively.

The party also established committees to handle mobilisation and campaign activities across Ogun’s 20 local government areas.

Sanusi said the council was designed to bring together party leaders and stakeholders to coordinate the various aspects of the election campaign.

He said, “The campaign council comprises party leaders, political stakeholders and other key members of the APC, who are expected to coordinate grassroots mobilisation, media and publicity, logistics, contact and mobilisation, youth and women engagement, as well as other critical aspects of the campaign.

“The committees have been constituted to strengthen the party’s structures and ensure effective coordination of its activities ahead of the 2027 elections.”

The APC chairman urged members of the campaign committees to work together towards delivering victories for the party in the presidential, governorship and legislative elections.

He said, “The members of the various committees are therefore urged to work collectively towards securing an overwhelming victory for the APC in the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections.”

The formation of the campaign council marks a fresh phase in the Ogun APC’s preparations for the 2027 elections, with the party seeking to consolidate its structures and strengthen its grassroots mobilisation ahead of the polls.
