The pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, has praised the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as well as the governors of Ogun and Lagos states and the commissioners of police in both states for their efforts in tackling banditry and kidnapping along the Ogbere–Sagamu Road in Ogun State.

In a statement issued on behalf of Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, the group’s National Organising Secretary, Abagun Kole Omololu, commended the security agencies for carrying out swift, coordinated and intelligence-led operations that restored peace to the area.

The statement noted that the operation highlighted the importance of inter-state cooperation, strong leadership and professional policing in addressing organised crime.

“The swift restoration of security reflects the value of purposeful leadership, professional policing, and effective inter-state and inter-command cooperation,” the statement said.

Afenifere specifically commended the Inspector-General of Police for his strategic direction and leadership, saying his emphasis on intelligence-driven policing has improved the force’s capacity to combat organised criminal activities.

The organisation also praised the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Olubode Ojajuni, citing his understanding of the terrain and operational experience as key factors in the success of the mission.

It equally lauded the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, for providing operational assets, specialised equipment and logistical assistance that boosted the effectiveness of the joint operation.

The group further acknowledged the roles of Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting that their support and commitment to creating a conducive environment for security agencies have enhanced law enforcement efforts.

“Their support for security operations and provision of the necessary enabling environment have significantly enhanced the ability of law enforcement agencies to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively,” Afenifere stated.

The organisation also paid tribute to the officers involved in the operation, describing them as brave, patriotic and professional in their efforts to combat criminal activities.

Reaffirming its commitment to the security of Yorubaland, Afenifere maintained that the region would not serve as a haven for criminal elements.

“The message is unequivocal: Kò sí ayé—there is no place for evil in Yorubaland. Those who seek to threaten the peace, security and prosperity of our people will continue to face the full weight of the law.”

The group added that the operation demonstrated the critical role of local intelligence in fighting crime and reinforced the determination of the Yoruba people to resist banditry, kidnapping and other violent offences.

“The people of Yorubaland remain profoundly grateful for this exemplary display of courage, dedication and public service. Odùduwà á gbé yín o,” the statement concluded.
