The command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, made this known on Thursday during an appearance on The Morning Brief programme on Channels Television.

He stated that the police got in touch with the content creator earlier in the week after her viral videos describing the alleged attack triggered widespread reactions online.

According to Babaseyi, officers traced her to the Ibafo area before establishing that the reported incident occurred in Ogijo, a boundary community between Ogun and Lagos states.

“When the DPO in Ibafo met with her, she was taken to the hospital for medical analysis. She wasn’t as stable as necessary, but we ensured the investigation continued.

“As we speak, she is in the intensive care unit getting appropriate care. Her medical well-being is more important to us at this point. When she is stable, we can now continue investigations and get the necessary facts,” Babaseyi said.

He emphasised that her health condition is the immediate concern, noting that investigators will obtain additional details once she is strong enough to provide a full account.

‘Not Arrested’

The case has sparked heated discussions on social media, with some individuals questioning the credibility of her claims. In response, Babaseyi urged the public not to make hasty judgments.

“We advise people not to jump to conclusions based on emotions. We are investigating and will rely on evidence to reach a logical conclusion,” he said, encouraging anyone with relevant information to assist the investigation.

He confirmed that some individuals have been invited for questioning but declined to disclose further details to maintain investigative confidentiality.

Babaseyi also refuted claims circulating online that Mirabel had been arrested, clarifying that she filed a complaint and is being regarded as a victim.

“She was not arrested by the police. She reported a case and we are investigating. Nothing of such as her arrest happened,” he clarified.

He added that anyone found responsible will be prosecuted, while false reporting, if proven, also carries legal implications.

“If the allegation is established to be true, the perpetrator will be arrested and charged to court appropriately. If otherwise, the law also addresses giving false information,” he said.

Mirabel’s Allegations

Mirabel drew significant public attention on Monday after sharing emotional videos in which she alleged she was attacked in her apartment on Sunday, February 15.

She claimed an intruder gained access to her residence, assaulted her, inflicted injuries with a blade, and forced her to consume a harmful substance.

The TikToker further alleged that the suspect later contacted her through social media.

Following the viral posts and the #StopRapingWomen campaign, the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency initially intervened before the matter was transferred to the Ogun State Police Command, as the alleged incident reportedly occurred within its jurisdiction.

Police authorities say the investigation remains ongoing and that updates will be provided as new facts are uncovered.

They reiterated that the priority at this stage is Mirabel’s recovery and conducting a thorough, evidence-based inquiry into the allegations.
