The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has suspended Maryam Suleiman, its state women leader, citing allegations of gross misconduct.

A suspension letter dated March 31st, signed by Ali Maishago and Zakkah Bassahuwa, the APC chairman and secretary of Badarawa/Malali ward respectively, announces the suspension of the state women leader, Maryam Suleiman. The suspension is attributed to alleged defamation of Governor Uba Sani’s character and unauthorized dissemination of the party’s internal conflicts, which undermined the governor’s reputation.

Furthermore, she was accused of orchestrating an attack by thugs on the political adviser to the governor, Manzo Maigari. According to the letter, these actions contravene Article 21, 2 (v) of the APC constitution. The suspension is stated to be indefinite pending an investigation into these allegations.

In a widely circulated video delivered in the Hausa language, the APC women leader criticized Governor Sani’s remarks regarding the substantial debt left by the previous administration of Nasir El-Rufai. During a town hall meeting with stakeholders, Governor Sani disclosed inheriting a debt burden of $587 million, n85 billion, and 115 contractual obligations from the El-Rufai era. He attributed the government’s inability to pay workers’ salaries to deductions from the federal allocation due to this debt.

However, in response to the governor’s statements, the APC women leader posted a video on social media accusing Governor Sani of mismanagement and admonishing him to desist from blaming El-Rufai for his administration’s shortcomings.
