The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo has urged residents of Taraba State, particularly those in Jalingo and Yorro Local Government Areas, to remain calm amid troop movements and the sound of gunfire.

Captain Olubodunde Oni, the Brigade’s spokesperson, announced that the troops will be conducting a shooting exercise at the Jimlari military range from today, September 17, to Thursday, September 19, 2024, as part of their Annual Range Classification Phase 2.

The exercise is designed to enhance the troops’ weapon handling and maintenance skills. Residents should expect significant troop and equipment movements, including live ammunition firing at the Military Range.

To ensure public safety, the Army has taken necessary precautions and advises residents to avoid the 114 Battalion Rear Jimlari Shooting Range area during the exercise.

Similar exercises have been conducted in other parts of Nigeria, such as Gombe and Oyo, to improve military skills and maintain peace.

Additionally, the Nigerian Army has established new battalions, including the 114 Battalion in Taraba State, to help stabilize the region.
