The Nigerian actor popularly known as Baba Ijesha, Olanrewaju Omiyinka, has dismissed allegations that Bobrisky received preferential treatment while serving a prison sentence for naira abuse.

In 2024, the crossdresser was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment. However, activist VeryDarkMan later circulated an alleged audio recording in which Bobrisky purportedly claimed that human rights lawyer Femi Falana and his son Falz contacted her during her sentence.

In the recording, Bobrisky was alleged to have said that both men attempted to secure a presidential pardon for her in exchange for N10 million. The claims also fuelled speculation that she did not serve her sentence in prison custody.

Bobrisky, however, denied the recording and threatened legal action against VeryDarkMan over alleged defamation.

Speaking in an interview on Talk To B, Baba Ijesha rejected claims of special treatment, insisting that Bobrisky was indeed in custody and faced challenges adapting in the early days.

He also dismissed reports that she stayed in a hotel, maintaining that he witnessed her time in prison firsthand.

He described Bobrisky as generous and misunderstood, noting that she often shared food with fellow inmates and that her public persona differs from her real character.

“Bobrisky was in prison. On the second day he arrived, he started crying and quickly got tired. Aside from what people say about him being a crossdresser, he is a reliable person,” he said.

“If they bring him food, he shares it with others. There are a lot of lies on social media, they claimed Bobrisky was in a hotel. Which hotel? We were together.

“It was his mum who brought food for him; she would cook for about 1,000 prisoners and cry. How people view Bobrisky is not who he truly is. The female outfits he wears are to make money, aside from that, he is a kind person.”

The interview comes weeks after Baba Ijesha regained freedom in November 2025 after completing his prison term.
