Tragic news has emerged from Birnin-Gwari Council in Kaduna State, where bandits have carried out an attack on local communities.

As a result of the attack, two individuals lost their lives, and approximately 30 others were abducted.

The incident took place on Monday around 11:30 a.m., a time when many residents were out working on their farms. The attack occurred after the deadline for levies imposed by the bandits had passed.

According to a survivor named Mallam Isa, the affected communities include Shiwaka, Unguwan Bagudu, and Sabonlayi.

Isa expressed concerns that additional bodies may be discovered in nearby bushes if a thorough search is conducted.

He stated that the bandits targeted the communities because the residents were unable to pay the levies imposed upon them.

“For now, farmers are afraid to go to their farms. Food scarcity is imminent unless the situation is arrested. We are still appealing to President Bola Tinubu for help. The problem is that, based on experience, even if the levy is paid, the bandits will never stop carrying out their attacks,” Isa said.

He added: “Many attacks were carried out at various locations by the bandits, with many unreported victims and casualties. In fact, the bandits stormed the capital of Birnin-Gwari twice, this week. The situation is escalating.”

As of the time the report was filed, both the Kaduna Police Command and the state government had not issued any official statements regarding the incident.
